A wind turbine is a power-generating device that converts wind energy into mechanical energy, which drives the rotor to rotate and ultimately outputs alternating current (AC) electricity. A typical wind turbine consists of a wind rotor, generator (including auxiliary devices), yaw system (tail vane), tower, overspeed and safety devices, and energy storage system.
A wind farm is a cluster of multiple large grid-connected wind turbines installed in areas with abundant wind resources. The turbines are arranged in arrays according to terrain and prevailing wind directions to supply power to the grid. Adequate spacing between turbines is essential to prevent excessive turbulence and the “wake effect,” which can significantly reduce the power output of downstream turbines. Roads must be constructed to transport large components, especially blades, to the installation site. Transmission lines are also required to connect the wind farm output to the grid connection point.

Factors affecting wind energy quality include average wind speed, average wind power density, wind frequency distribution, effective wind hours, and wind direction stability.

Low risk of natural disasters: Strong winds, hail, thunderstorms, earthquakes, and other hazards can impact turbine operation and safety.
